The studio camera is a set of two rooms, a light room where the subject of the photograph sits and a darkroom where a projected image of the subject can be viewed. The camera is capable of producing images up to 50 x 90 inches. The lighting used in the studio is mainly flash and the optics range from 600mm to 1000mm focal length. There is something quite unique and wonderful about standing inside the camera and seeing an upside down image floating on a white backboard. Because of the layout of the studio, photographs can be exposed and processed immediately. The studio houses a 50 inch Colenta Ilfochrome processor adjacent to the camera, this allows for decisions to be made without the waiting process associated with analogue photography.
